Why this role exists
A compelling demo is not enough. MAXX needs rigorous model selection, evaluation, retrieval and learning systems so each companion becomes more capable while remaining predictable and safe.
What you'll own
- Model evaluation, routing, retrieval and agent-quality infrastructure.
- Datasets and test suites that reflect real customer work.
- Latency, quality and cost trade-offs across multiple model providers.
- Production monitoring for failure, drift and unsafe behaviour.
What exceptional looks like
- Model improvements are proven by repeatable evaluations, not anecdotes.
- Companions complete more work with lower latency and cost.
- Failures become observable, classifiable and steadily rarer.
What we're looking for
- You combine experimental discipline with production engineering.
- You are sceptical of impressive outputs that cannot be measured.
- You understand where prompting ends and systems engineering begins.
Experience
- 3+ years in applied ML or AI engineering.
- Python, evaluation pipelines, embeddings, retrieval and production APIs.
- Deploying model-backed features used by real customers.
Nice to have
- Speech models or realtime inference
- Fine-tuning, synthetic data or multi-agent systems
