Why this role exists
Conversational products create new interaction problems: intent, control, memory, trust and recovery. We need a design leader who can define those experiences instead of borrowing patterns from conventional software.
What you'll own
- End-to-end product experience across voice, web and mobile surfaces.
- Research, interaction design, prototyping and design quality in production.
- A coherent system for expressing companion state, agency and user control.
- Close collaboration with customers, engineering and the founder.
What exceptional looks like
- First-time users understand what their companion can do without instruction.
- Complex workflows feel calm, direct and unmistakably MAXX.
- Design decisions reduce both customer friction and engineering rework.
What we're looking for
- You think in behaviours and systems, not just screens.
- You prototype quickly and stay involved until the shipped experience is right.
- You have a strong point of view without becoming precious about solutions.
Experience
- 6+ years designing sophisticated digital products.
- A portfolio showing shipped systems, not isolated visual concepts.
- Direct work with product and engineering in an early-stage environment.
Nice to have
- Voice or conversational interface design
- Designing AI products with variable outcomes
